Charterparty disputes

Ship usage contracts can be time, voyage, or bareboat. Common disputes include breach of contract.

The most commonly used models include:

• BALTIME (BIMCO),
• NYPE (New York Produce Exchange Form),
• SHELLTIME (oil and gas tankers),
• GENCON (voyages),
• ASBATANVOY (developed by the Association of Ship Brokers and Agents).

The Maritime Courts of Panama may hear these disputes, unless the defendant proves prior and express negotiation of forum selection clauses.
